PATNA, Nov 14: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has gained an early advantage in the Bihar Assembly election counting, leading in 166 of the 243 seats. This significant lead surpasses the majority mark of 122, as per the latest updates from the Election Commission.
The opposition INDIA bloc lags significantly behind, leading in only 59 seats. Election officials maintain that the counting is still unfolding, and these figures may shift as more results come in.
Within the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shows a strong performance, leading in 72 seats. The Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) follows closely with leads in 71 seats, the Lok Janshakti Party (Rashtriya) has 18, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) stands at four, and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Manch holds one seat.
Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc struggles in the current trends, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leading in 43 constituencies, the Indian National Congress in eight, CPI(ML)-Liberation in six, and both CPI and CPI(M) each leading in one seat.
Some new faces in the elections struggled as well, with both the Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, and the Vikassheel Insaan Party headed by Mukesh Sahani trailing in all constituencies they contested.
Key candidates have also made headlines with their positions in the ongoing counting. RJD’s popular candidate Khesari Lal Yadav trailed in Chhapra, while BJP’s Maithili Thakur led in Alinagar. In Ragunathpur, Osama Shahab of the RJD holds a lead, while JD(U) minister Leshi Singh maintains an advantage in Dhamdaha.
The INDIA bloc’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav currently leads in Raghopur. In contrast, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary, contesting from Tarapur, and Vijay Kumar Sinha from Lakhisarai also show leads in their respective constituencies.
In Mahua, however, Tej Pratap Yadav finds himself in fourth place, with LJP (RV)’s Sanjay Kumar Singh leading.
