RAMBAN, JULY 08: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool, Imtiaz, led a vital meeting today to enhance disaster preparedness within the sub-division, focusing on floods, landslides, and cloudbursts. This Sub-Division Level Disaster Management and Coordination Meeting aimed to strengthen inter-departmental collaboration and improve relief measures in anticipation of the monsoon season.
The meeting gathered various officials including Tehsildar Harjeet Singh, SDPO Kuldeep Raj, Naib Tehsildar Inktikhab Ahmed, and the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Sanjay Sharma. Additionally, officials from departments like Health, PDD, and the Police were present. This inclusive approach highlighted the importance of unified efforts in managing potential natural hazards.
During the discussions, the SDM reviewed the existing disaster management plan, scrutinizing the availability of personnel, machinery, and essential commodities. He directed the team to enhance the functioning of control rooms and communication systems across the sub-division. “All line departments must remain on high alert,” the SDM insisted, emphasizing the need for continuous monitoring of vulnerable areas prone to unforeseen disasters.
Imtiaz further stressed proactive measures, urging departments like Jal Shakti, PWD, and PMGSY to pinpoint vulnerable spots. Restoration teams should remain ready for immediate action, ensuring a swift response during emergencies. The Health department received instructions to maintain adequate supplies of medicines, ambulances, and medical staff at CHC Gool and PHCs.
To secure food supplies, the FCS&CA department was tasked with maintaining a buffer stock of rations. Furthermore, the PDD was directed to ensure backup power arrangements to prevent outages during critical times. These steps are essential to improve community safety amidst potential crises.
The SDM emphasized the role of Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars in conducting regular inspections of vulnerable locations. He urged them to keep updated lists of disaster-prone pockets and to enhance public awareness regarding safety measures. “Community involvement is crucial,” the SDM noted, calling on locals to share information about safety protocols during disasters.
The police and personnel from 23 RR were provided a directive to support rescue operations and facilitate evacuations if necessary. Meanwhile, representatives from Beacon were tasked to ensure the rapid restoration of roads following any blockades. These collaborative efforts are vital for ensuring quick access and mobility in critical situations.
Ultimately, the SDM reiterated that safeguarding lives and property remains the highest priority for the administration. He affirmed, “Effective coordination, timely responses, and public cooperation are key to minimizing disaster impacts.” With this meeting, the Gool administration demonstrated its commitment to being fully prepared for any natural calamities that may arise in the future.
