In a significant move to enhance service delivery in remote areas, the District Administration of Kupwara has established three new Common Service Centres (CSCs) in the Block of Keran. The initiative aims to fundamentally improve the accessibility of government schemes and digital services for residents of border villages.
Deputy Commissioner Kupwara inaugurated these new CSCs virtually and engaged with the Village Level Entrepreneurs responsible for their operation. Locations of these centres include the Gram Panchayats of Mundiyan-A, Mundiyan, and Pathroo. This setup allows local residents to access vital government services, welfare programs, and digital resources right at their doorstep.
The introduction of these Common Service Centres followed a comprehensive ground-level assessment by a dedicated team that identified service gaps in the area. This initiative received substantial support from CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, an organization integral to promoting digital governance across the country.
These new CSCs will provide residents with last-mile access to a diverse array of e-governance services. They will offer essential governance-related services, public utility provisions, and various schemes related to social welfare, financial inclusion, healthcare, and agriculture. By facilitating such services, the initiative also helps bridge the digital literacy gap that persists in these geographically challenging areas.
This step aligns with the broader vision for the holistic development of border villages in India. It is geared towards eliminating the long travels that residents previously undertook to avail themselves of basic services, thereby bringing governance closer to the people in these remote regions.
Local residents have warmly welcomed the efforts of the District Administration in extending digital services to border regions. The administration simultaneously reaffirms its commitment to “Governance at the Doorstep,” demonstrating an ongoing determination to integrate digital resources effectively in remote service delivery.
