Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in Khour on Monday, a pivotal enhancement for sports infrastructure in border regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

This new facility represents a significant governmental step toward increasing accessibility and promoting sports among the youth in rural and border communities. Sharma emphasized that these modern sports amenities aim to cultivate a vibrant sports culture, encouraging discipline and a healthy lifestyle among young people.

“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level is essential for identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent. Our goal is to ensure that no talented youth misses opportunities due to a lack of facilities,” stated Sharma during the inauguration.

The indoor sports hall, the latest addition to Khour’s sports infrastructure, has been equipped to facilitate various sports disciplines simultaneously. It boasts three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, two judo courts, and two wrestling and kabaddi courts, creating a comprehensive environment for athlete training.

During the inauguration ceremony, Satish Sharma took time to interact with local youth and aspiring sportspersons, encouraging them to take full advantage of this new facility. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing sports infrastructure development and promoting talent across Jammu and Kashmir.

The establishment of the multipurpose indoor sports hall is set to offer a substantial boost to sporting activities in Khour and surrounding regions, ensuring that young athletes have access to modern, world-class facilities right in their locality. Community leaders and local athletes have expressed optimism that this facility will serve as a catalyst for engaging more youth in sports and fostering a competitive spirit.

With this move, the Jammu and Kashmir government emphasizes its dedication to advancing sports infrastructure in border areas. While many talented youths reside in these regions, they often struggle with limited access to necessary facilities. By investing in such state-of-the-art facilities, the government not only elevates local sports but also aims to inspire the next generation of athletes.
